Welcome!
DarfurMetro is a coalition of Darfur advocacy groups in New York and New Jersey and exists to share information, news, and promote events for any group working to end the genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan.
Since 2003, the government of Sudan has waged a campaign of murder, rape, and forced relocation on members of the Massaleit, Fur, and Zaghawa tribes in Darfur through their proxy army, the Janjaweed militias. To date hundreds of thousands have been killed and more than 2.5 million continue to eke out a living in refugee or internally displaced peoples camps, waiting for their chance to finally go home and end this nightmare.
Please take action to end this genocide today!
It is vital that you call your representative to support the Supplemental Funding Bill of $334 million for Darfur peacekeeping and humanitarian aid. To get talking points and be connected through to your congressman's office, call 1-800-Genocide, put in your zip code and press the number 2. You will be given a talking point on this legislation and be connected through to your congressman's office. It's easy, it's free, it only takes a minute, and it is essential for the people of Darfur.
